OPEN ABOUT OUR DATA
Real observations.
Clear coverage.
Where the data comes from
We collect public channel and stream information directly from the official Twitch API. We do not scrape TwitchTracker or reproduce its rankings. We are an independent service, not affiliated with Twitch, Amazon or Kick.
What we track
The initial pool is capped at 1,000 channels per platform. Discovery considers leading live channels globally, English-language live channels, our configured gaming focus, existing community creators and staff prospects. Rankings describe this tracked pool; they are not a complete ranking of every channel on either platform.
A separate collector is scheduled every five minutes. Twitch and Kick use independent collection leases and histories, so a failure on one provider does not stop the other. Kick discovery rotates through the official live-stream cursor because that endpoint is ordered by stream start time. Identical usernames and category IDs on different platforms remain distinct. Successful observations include a timestamp, live status, viewer count and category. Every tracked channel is checked explicitly: falling outside a top-list page is not treated as going offline. Failed collections leave gaps. Observations older than 15 minutes are marked stale, rather than displayed as a current live count.
Our metrics
- Live viewers: the concurrent viewers the platform reported at the latest fresh observation.
- Sampled average: the arithmetic mean of our live viewer snapshots in the rolling window, displayed after at least three live samples. Offline checks are excluded. This is not the platform's full-period average or a time-weighted average.
- Observed peak: the largest viewer count we observed. A higher peak could have occurred between checks.
- Observed live hours: the sum of intervals between adjacent live checks of the same stream, only when the checks are at most ten minutes apart. We do not fill missing intervals or count a whole stream from one snapshot.
- Observed viewer-hours: each accepted live interval multiplied by the mean of its endpoint viewer counts, divided into hours. These are sampled estimates over covered intervals.
- Days with live samples: UTC calendar days with at least one live observation.
History starts when tracking begins
Rolling summaries cover the current UTC day and previous 29 UTC days, limited to the observations we have actually collected. Daily interval totals are assigned to the day on which the interval ends. A newly tracked channel does not have 30 days of history. Each channel shows its tracking start, live-snapshot count, total observations and last check. We do not invent or backfill missing history.
The viewer chart shows available observations from the last 24 hours. Gaps indicate offline checks or missing observations. Raw observations expire after 48 hours; daily summary buckets expire after 35 days. Channel names, images and descriptions are refreshed from Twitch; unavailable channels are removed when detected during a profile refresh.
Statistics and featured listings
Public analytics profiles are free. A tracked channel is not automatically a customer, partner or sponsor. Joining the featured Creator Wall is a separate one-time listing offer. Payment does not change an analytics rank or observed metrics.
Follower totals, subscriber counts, revenue and audience demographics are not provided in this release. We do not infer them from unrelated metrics.
Prospecting and sponsorship review
Staff use the same observations to shortlist relevant creators. Business contact details, contact permission, outreach messages, sponsorship applications and internal review notes remain private. A sampled average is not automatically accepted as proof of sponsorship eligibility. The USD 1,000 campaign remains Twitch-only; Kick creators can join the wall and the general prospect workflow. Staff review the evidence, channel ownership and campaign before approval.
Corrections and removal
For a correction or a request to remove a tracked profile, contact comms@thecrimsonmarket.com with the channel link. We will review requests and can remove channel analytics from our service. Featured creator profiles remain governed by the programme terms.
